01. First identify the symptom
An empty homepage, an endless stream of similar videos and a feed that repeats watched videos are different problems. Check whether recommendations are missing entirely or simply not relevant.
02. Check your watch-history setting
YouTube says the homepage primarily uses watch history. If watch history is turned off and there is little earlier activity, the homepage may not show personalized recommendations. Check your Google/YouTube activity controls before clearing more data.
03. Use the controls YouTube already provides
For a video you do not want, open its menu and choose Not interested; for an unwanted creator, choose Don’t recommend channel. These are feedback signals, not guarantees that every related video disappears.
04. Avoid deleting useful history unnecessarily
Clearing watch history changes recommendation signals and cannot be treated as a reversible, single-click algorithm reset. Confirm what you want to remove before deleting activity.
05. A quick five-minute diagnostic
Open YouTube in a regular browser session and check whether the Home page is empty or just repetitive. Then compare with a signed-out or private window: if the behavior changes, account signals may be involved; if it does not, also consider application or browser issues. This comparison is a clue, not a definitive diagnosis.
06. What to try before changing your account
Try Not interested on a specific unwanted video, then Don’t recommend channel for a creator you repeatedly see. Check your watch-history setting separately. Make one change at a time and revisit Home later; recommendations do not necessarily update immediately.
07. When you actually want something different
Search for unfamiliar subjects or use a separate discovery feed. Outside Your Feed offers a separately curated set of different creators and regional popular content; it does not repair YouTube’s homepage or access your complete watch history.
