How to discover videos without relying on watch history

A recommendation feed can become closely tied to what you watched yesterday. You can make discovery more deliberate.

01. Know what history influences

YouTube may use watch and search history alongside other signals. Pausing history and using incognito mode change the experience, but do not guarantee diversity.

02. Start with explicit choices

Pick a language, topic range or duration instead of asking an algorithm to infer everything from previous clicks.

03. Avoid reinforcing a single click

Finding one interesting video should not automatically mean you want a dozen more on the same subject.

04. Use a separate discovery feed

Outside Your Feed does not increase category weights because you clicked a video. It uses its own record of displayed content to reduce repetition.
